Nueva Andalucía Property & Area Guide

Nueva Andalucia is the more graceful little sister of Puerto Banus. This extremely pretty and tranquil residential area is within walking distance to the beach front and famous marina and was purposefully constructed with convenience and traditional Andalucían architecture in mind, as the name suggests.

With the majestic backdrop of La Concha Mountain, Nueva Andalucia is characterised by lavish terracotta villas, exclusive white-washed and gated communities and luxury modern apartment complexes lined with lush pine trees and manicured flower beds. Stretching out to the famous Golf Valley, the area is fringed by some of the finest golf courses in Spain making it a spectacular area to live in for golf enthusiasts.

Though Nueva Andalucia is mainly a residential area, the neighbourhood offers a variety of local amenities that make for a comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle under the sun. Within walking distance from any part of the area are a myriad of restaurants, bars and shopping facilities, gyms and other sports facilities, a casino as well as the well-known Saturday market. While hilly, Nueva Andalucia is best enjoyed on foot and enjoys splendid views of the Mediterranean due to its elevated terrain.

With Puerto Banus at its feet and Marbella only a short 10-minute drive away, Nueva Andalucia is ideally located between two of Spain's most famous coastal town and has therefore in recent years become one of the most popular locations for home buyers, retirees, families and celebrities alike.

Golfers are spoilt for choice in the area and can enjoy the challenges posed by the excellent Aloha and Las Brisas golf courses with the Golf Valley located at your doorstep. Los Naranjos and La Dama de Noche are also reputable courses located a stones throw away from the community.

If Golf is not your favourite sport, there are other facilities to keep fit: gyms, Tennis and Paddle courts. Hikers will love the challenges of La Concha Mountain. During the summer months, water sports is of course a popular choice for out-door activities. Water-skiing, wakeboarding, sailing and jet-skiing is offered in different locations on the nearby beaches.

For foodies, Nueva Andalucia has a choice of quaint restaurants specialising in international or local cuisine. With Marbella, Puerto Banus and Benahavis known as the culinary jewel, there are plenty of places nearby to have a memorable meal.

Shopping in the nearby marina of Puerto Banus is world-renowned as a haven for shoppers where the streets are lined with glamorous designer boutiques including Gucci, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Bvlgari. Nueva Andalucia is ideally situated a few minutes inland from the vibrancy of Puerto Banus, the beautiful surrounding beaches and the bustling town centre of Marbella. The cinema complex in Puerto Banus shows English movies and the Puerto Banus Casino, right next to Nueva Andalucia hosts a variety of events and regular art exhibitions and is another choice for a fun night out!

Nueva Andalucia is a small area that stretches inland from Puerto Banus and can be easily reached from the main Coastal Road. It also has good bus connections with routes to all of the main areas to the Coast, including Marbella, Fuengirola and Malaga.

From Puerto Banus Marina there is also a boat service to and from Marbella, a great travel alternative during the summer months! The service runs regularly from Easter until late November.

Malaga's airport and train station connecting the Costa del Sol with the rest of the world, can be reached by car in less than one hour.

There are a number of fantastic medical facilities in and around Nueva Andalucía. One of the largest and best hospitals of the coast, the Hospital Costa del Sol is only 15 minutes away.

Residents of Spain have full access to free healthcare through the National Insurance System. The public health facilities in Spain enjoy a great reputation and most of the medical care centres and hospitals offer their services with a free translation service.

European citizens that hold a European Health Insurance will have access to health care without being a resident in Spain.

Private Heath care is also available on very reasonable rates. You will find a number of providers advertising in the local press. Amongst the most popular ones are Mapfre, Cesar and Sanitas.

The Costa del Sol is known for its cosmopolitan flair. You will therefore find a number of good Spanish public schools, as well as a number of International private schools, including English, Swedish and German schools.
